Large conferences like NAR NXT are all about business on paper—sessions, CE credits, and back-to-back meetings. In reality, attendees also need moments to reset. That’s where Octagon stepped in for its client Bank of America, building a mid-day tailgate inside Houston’s George R. Brown Convention Center that served food, spun music, and quietly set the stage for some friendly competition.

A Return Worth Repeating

The tailgate transformed a section of the convention center into a sponsorship-powered hangout—without pulling focus from the conference itself. For the second year in a row, Octagon brought us in to turn that break into a moment attendees would actually plan around, anchored by our Giant Beer Pong returning by popular demand.

The Perfect Crowd-Pleaser

This wasn’t just an oversized set on the floor; it was a fully branded stage for Bank of America. The cups featured custom BOfA artwork, including the Official Partner graphic paired with the USA crest, tying in the bank’s partnership with U.S. Soccer. It created a subtle sports-driven thread that fit naturally into the tailgate vibe, turning every throw of the soccer ball into brand visibility and every photo into easy, shareable content.

Why It Worked

The tailgate thrived because it complemented—not competed with—the conference. Octagon balanced the essentials (food, music, and atmosphere) with an experience designed to spark connection. Bringing back a favorite from the previous year meant attendees walked in ready to engage, making the activation feel familiar without losing its edge.
